Transactional Analysis, often known as T.A, is a model of therapy which is popular with many therapists across the world. The TA model sees people as having three ways of being: Parent, Adult and Child. We constantly move between these ways of being, according to the conversations we have with ourselves, and our interactions with others.
We can, for example, be critical or nurturing in a parental way; be joyful or vulnerable in a childlike way; or logical and practical in an adult way. Each of these ways of being have their benefits and their negatives and in understanding which we are currently experiencing we can be greatly empowered to break free from unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving.
TA can be a lot of fun once you begin to recognise whether you are coming from your parent, adult or child self and you begin to identify how these roles are playing out with others too. In this way, you can learn to have more empowering conversations with yourself which will greatly increase your confidence. You can also learn to have better interactions with others – forming much healthier relationships and letting go of old patterns and subconscious games that have been sabotaging your relationships.
Transactional Analysis is particularly helpful for:
• Relationship difficulties
• Self Confidence
• Resolving childhood hurts
• Letting go of self-destructive habits
I generally integrate T.A into sessions in a very natural way and according to my client’s individual needs.
I may for example blend T.A with Talk Therapy, Cognitive Beahavioural Therapy (C.B.T), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Matrix Reimprinting to help you in a way that is specific for your issues.
