Something I’ve been talking about in my work recently is how we can often get confused; seeing our identity as being what we do rather than who we are.
Yet what we ‘do’ is likely to change. The roles we have become used to in our work, or in relationships may well change. Children grow up, people sadly leave us, work situations change.
Yet there is a constant. That constant can be found in asking ourselves the following:
‘What am I feeling right now, and what am I choosing to do with those feelings?’
Becoming adept at this way of self-reflection is a skill that remains constant in life. This is the true essence of your identity and it will carry you through every role, every situation, every relationship, through every chapter of your life.
